BVMW Annual Reception 2026: Why Freedom Means Responsibility

The BVMW annual reception in Cologne provided valuable impetus on competitiveness, red tape reduction, and technological sovereignty. CUBE CONCEPTS used the top-class event to deepen the dialogue on the responsibility of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the current energy transition.

On March 19, 2026, our sales team was at this year's Annual reception of the BVMW (Federal Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) in Cologne. Under the pioneering motto „Freedom is responsibility“ The event brought together high-profile figures from business, politics, the German Armed Forces, and society.

For CUBE CONCEPTS Jasin, Luca, and Guido were on-site to capture valuable insights and engage in dialogue with other decision-makers. The evening made one thing clear: in an increasingly complex environment, entrepreneurial freedom is inextricably linked to the responsibility for more stable framework conditions.

The Mittelstand as a bridge builder: Topics that move people

In an inspiring, industrially influenced setting, the central challenges for Germany's small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) were the focus. The presentations and discussions addressed precisely the topics that also significantly shape our daily work at CUBE CONCEPTS:

  • Energy & Competition: Ensuring competitive and reliable energy prices.
  • Reducing bureaucracy Reducing administrative hurdles to boost innovation.
  • Digitalization Promoting a powerful and secure digital infrastructure.
  • Safety: Strengthening cybersecurity and sovereign data spaces.
  • Mobility Technology-open and economical solutions for the future.

Impulses from experts in business and security

The speakers of the evening emphasized the necessity of close integration between economic strength and technological sovereignty. Among the guests were:

  • Christoph Ahlhaus (Chairman of the Federal Executive Board of the BVMW)
  • André Bodemann (Deputy Commander of the Operational Command of the German Armed Forces)
  • Karl-Heinz Land (Entrepreneur and digitalization expert)
  • Hans-Jürgen Völz (Federal Managing Director of Economics for the BVMW)

André Bodemann's presentation, in particular, highlighted how closely national security and a resilient economy are linked – a perspective that is more relevant than ever in the current global landscape and was keenly discussed afterward.

Conclusion: Networking as the Key to Success

The BVMW Annual Reception 2026 demonstrated that the Mittelstand is the central driver of economic stability and social cohesion. For CUBE CONCEPTS, participation was an excellent opportunity to deepen existing contacts and gain fresh perspectives for our upcoming projects.
