GHG quota for companies

Companies can benefit from the GHG quota (greenhouse gas reduction quota) in different ways: If the company fleet consists of various e-vehicles, the CO₂ savings or CO₂ certificates on the quota market Sold or the CO₂ balance of the company can be taken into account. In 2021-22, the GHG premium for passenger cars was between €340 and almost €500 per year, depending on the vehicle class, and is expected to be slightly lower in 2023, as the proportion of electricity from fossil fuels in the overall electricity mix is higher than in 2022.

Solar carports & charging station

Charging stations on company premises improve the GHG quota for companies

In addition, there is the option of using publicly accessible Charging stations on the company premises. The operators of charging stations not only receive the proceeds from the sale of the charging current, but also a GHG premium. This currently amounts to 12.5 cents/kWh for electricity from the conventional electricity mix and even up to 25 cents/kWh if the electricity comes from renewable energy sources. On average, this amounts to €1,300 per year per charging station if the charging electricity comes from other suppliers and up to €4,200 per year per charging station as a GHG quota if the charging electricity comes from local renewable sources. However, the basic prerequisite for the subsidy is that the charging points are publicly accessible, as the legislator wants to facilitate the switch to e-mobility through this measure. These wallboxes and charging points on company premises must be registered with the Federal Network Agency.

Climate protection law forces companies to act

In view of the fact that Germany is aiming for climate neutrality by 2030 at 80% and by 2045 at 100%, there are many Companies now under pressure to actif they want to avoid future penalties for non-compliance with the GHG quota for companies subject to the quota. These penalties ultimately increase from year to year. If companies are in a position to obtain CO₂ certificates, they should first draw up a CO₂ balance sheet for the company in accordance with international standards in order to then decide whether the CO₂ savings should be used to reduce the company's own CO₂ balance or sold.

Why CUBE CONCEPTS - commercial PV systems

Improve the GHG quota with PV systems for companies

With photovoltaic systems on Company roofsas Solar parks or Carports on the company premises, companies improve their CO₂ balance and, in combination with public E-charging stations or wallboxes they are particularly efficient. The parked e-vehicles are supplied directly with cheap solar power and the company can use the surplus energy immediately or sell it back into the grid via direct marketing. A smart Charging infrastructureas from CUBE CONCEPTSThe load management system also ensures high efficiency in the optimal allocation of green PV energy to the various charging stations or wallboxes. If intermediate storage units are also integrated, a company can achieve a high level of efficiency through Peak Shaving save further costs.
