Understanding energy-intensive companies - CUBE CONCEPTS at the PwC annual conference

Amidst debates on grid fees and hydrogen strategies, the PwC conference offered valuable insights into the challenges facing energy-intensive companies in the current market environment. We are leveraging these impulses to refine innovative concepts for renewable energies and to sustainably secure the ecological and economic future of our partners.

On May 16, 2024, the PwC Annual Conference for Energy-Intensive Companies, as part of the Energy and Climate Compass, took place in Düsseldorf. In collaboration with the Association of Energy-Intensive Industries in Germany (EID), a compelling review of the energy and climate policy developments of the turbulent year 2023 was presented. We were there to understand energy-intensive companies. Because last year was also characterized by heated discussions about Industrial electricity prices, Power plant strategies and rising Electricity grid charges, which kept industry and trade on edge.

Lectures & Debates on Key Energy Issues

High-ranking representatives from industry, business, and science sparked lively debates. Key topics ranged from strategic transformation until sustainable corporate concepts and the balance between regulation and competitiveness. As interested observers, we were able to witness firsthand how central questions that concern our clients were addressed. How are the Energy costs for energy-intensive consumers? What happens to grid fees and taxes? Which Relief are possible and how are ecological concessions handled?

Particularly exciting were the discussions about the successful implementation of projects in the field of renewable energies, the implementation of hydrogen projects, and the effects of the reform of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS II).

Developing future visions for energy-intensive companies

The event offered an excellent platform to better understand the challenges and opportunities of our clients. The concrete implementation steps and future visions of the energy-intensive industry are of great interest to us. All the insights help us to further develop energy projects.

Understand current developments & develop individual solutions

We are always interested in understanding our clients' challenges and, together, leveraging our expertise in forward-thinking and innovative energy solutions to overcome. Participating in such events, workshops, and the constant exchange with our professional partners enables us to develop tailor-made solutions that are both ecologically and economically sustainable.

Depot charging - e-mobility for commercial vehicles

Depotladen leverages idle times at central base stations to charge commercial vehicle fleets cost-effectively through intelligent load management and dynamic tariffs. This significantly reduces operating costs compared to diesel, avoids the CO₂ truck toll, and improves the ESG balance through the integration of PV electricity and battery storage.

Helicoptering as a risk to grid stability?

To make productive use of the oversupply of onshore wind power, large-scale battery storage, sector coupling, and flexible loads (demand-side management) are essential. Instead of curtailing generation, these technologies enable surpluses to be converted into hydrogen, heat, or mobility, thus stabilizing the power system during generation peaks.
