The VWI University Group Niederrhein e.V. had, at the end of March, together with the GPM German Project Management Association. organized a three-day project management course in Krefeld. CUBE CONCEPTS was actively involved as a practical partner and provided content on key aspects of technical project management. The fully booked event underscores the high relevance of sound project management – especially in the context of increasingly complex energy projects and the demands of the energy transition.
The course content is based on the established training concept of the GPM German Association for Project Management, which provides the learning content and is also responsible for the final certification examination. Through the VWI umbrella organization, this content is prepared by qualified trainers and delivered in seminars at universities.
Energy Projects in Focus
Within the 18-hour seminar, they taught Anna Pitzen and Patrick Thiede from CUBE CONCEPTS comprehensive insights into technical project management. The focus was on planning, controlling, and implementing complex projects. The emphasis was on energy infrastructure, photovoltaics, and Large-scale battery storage-Projects in the commercial and industrial environment. Furthermore, project-specific framework conditions such as grid connection, regulatory requirements, and economic aspects were classified.
Project Management Methods
A central component of the course was the practical transfer established project management methods and processes. These included project structuring, schedule and resource planning, risk management, and the coordination of different stakeholders, among others. Typical challenges also from real energy projects Patrick Thiede was able to address the entire process in detail, from project development and approval processes to implementation and commissioning. This was supplemented by interactive discussions and case studies, in which the students could analyze specific issues and independently develop solutions.

Certificate & Exam
The project management course took place from March 27th to 29th at the Krefeld Süd campus and comprised a total of 18 seminar hours. Afterwards, participants now have the opportunity to take an exam for the GPM Basic Certificate to lay down and thus formally qualify their knowledge in project management. The certificate offers in particular for students a structured introduction into professional project management and increases the employability for industrial practical projects.
Project Management & Energy Projects Specialists
Through its commitment to academic teaching, CUBE CONCEPTS contributes to the training of future professionals in project management and energy projects. At the same time, knowledge transfer between industry and academia is specifically promoted. Especially against the backdrop of the increasing demand for qualified specialists for the planning and implementation of energy infrastructure projects, this represents an important building block. This applies to companies as well as to the overall successful implementation of the energy transition.
